Leadership Reorganization

On Monday, Office Depot has revealed that Roland Smith, Office Depot CEO, will retire from his post as soon as a successor will have been elected. Nonetheless, he will retain his position as the Office Depot Chairman. The Office Depot Board of Directors is expected to officially name a new CEO by the end of the first quarter.

When Smith accepted the three-year contract to spearhead Office Depot in 2013, he noted that he had to set aside a number of priorities in his career. Now, he hopes to work on those endeavors following the fulfillment of his obligations as the CEO of Office Depot.

Under the new executive office, Rice will oversee the company’s contract, e-commerce, marketing, and retail operations in the US.

Meanwhile, Rob Koch, Office Depot Senior VP (SVP) of Real Estate has been appointed as the new EVP of Business Development. Under the newly-created office, Koch will oversee the identification and actualization of potential business opportunities. He will nonetheless retain his post as the company’s SVP of Real Estate.

Moreover, Steve Calkins, Office Depot EVP of Contract, has been promoted as the company’s new EVP and Chief Legal Officer, replacing Elisa Garcia.
