Foxconn Technology Group focuses on the construction of the LCD factory and shifts the opening date to 2020. The company has also reduced the factory size to 1 million Sq. Ft. from the originally proposed 20 million Sq. Ft. Employee count at the proposed manufacturing facility is also reduced to 1,500 from earlier announced 13,000. The proposed LCD manufacturing facility will not produce large-screen LCD TVs. Foxconn announced earlier this month that it would build a 9-story glass orb for Data Centre operations.

Innovation centers in Wisconsin are on hold

Scott Walker, the Governor, has granted incentives and tax breaks worth billions of dollars in 2017 to Foxconn because the technology giant promised to generate 13,000 jobs in the proposed electronics production facility in Wisconsin. Originally planned, five innovation centers in Wisconsin should employ 100 to 200 people in each innovation center. The Milwaukee center promised to generate employment for 500 highly skilled people. However, the proposed innovation centers are now on hold officially because Foxconn focuses on meeting the deadline to open an LCD manufacturing facility.

Acquires a building in Milwaukee

Foxconn did nothing after buying a building in Milwaukee. According to a report of Verge published in April 2019, Foxconn’s purchased buildings are empty. Though the company disputed the news, it has not come with any evidence or corrections even after 190 days.

Foxconn has implemented an HVAC system in one of the buildings in Eau Claire. According to the Manager (Economic Development) in Eau Claire, Foxconn did a minimal thing in the proposed facility. Four Foxconn staffers indicated their intention to move forward, but they have not set any timeline to complete the work.

Foxconn has not done any work in the proposed innovation center in Racine. A spokesman for Racine Mayor, Shannon Powell said the company focuses on Mount Pleasant campus. There should be a grand inauguration if an innovation center is up and running in the city.

The innovation center plans of Foxconn are in jeopardy.  In September, the company entered a pact with an automated coffee kiosk firm to manufacture its products locally. However, the Mount Pleasant factory is not yet established. After shifting the deadlines several times, Foxconn plans to open in 2020.

Proposes sale of LCD factory in China

Amid the US-China trade war, Foxconn is proposing to sell its LCD factory in China for $8.8 billion. The Guangzhou factory is scheduled to start operation by the end of 2019.
